  • Exclusive Interview of Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd

    Mr. Liu yue, who comes from Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd, visits the living studio of
    Chinabuses.com / English. Chinabuses.com during the Busworld Asia 2008 in March. Both sides exchange ideas on the market of China buses & coaches engine.

    Journalist: Nowadays, Cummins enters into Chinese market for many years and pays very high attention on environmental protection. For example, when Chinese government fulfilled the emission standard of Euro I, Cummins already implemented Euro II. When Chinese government fulfilled the emission standard of Euro II, Cummins already implemented Euro III and Euro IV. How do you think about the diesel engine to protect environment?

    Mr. Liu yue: We special held the technical seminar on development of environmental protection in this time, including the technologies of Euro IV and Euro V engine. Cummins pays a very high attention on environmental protection. I need to point out two concepts. The first one is green product. The second one is globalization. Cummins’ engine has a very good market in the world and it can fully fulfill all countries’ emission standards, also, it is our thesis “clean power, go to the world”.

    Journalist: I think global spare part companies have the power to push China buses & coaches industry move forward. We sell chassis to overseas market. Overseas clients just concern its core technology. They do not know the exact parts of each engine. If this screw made from Cummins, the cases are totally different.

    Mr. Liu yue: The price of import Cummins’ engine is high due to the tax. I pay attention to the exchange rate from last year and see that the RMB’s evaluation rises sharply. Chinese clients can pay less money to buy the same products; meanwhile, their risk becomes lower.

    Journalist: Generally speaking, it has very high value; furthermore, it needs a plan to fulfill step by step.

    Mr. Liu yue: We have no exact plans to fulfill it as yet. Our influence is limited and many export buses install other brands’ engine. I am not sure about their interests.

    Journalist: Practice is very important. For example, we sent China Buses Guide 2005 to all of clients for free. China Buses Guide 2006 is free also. In 2007 and 2008, we cut free meals because this guide has very high value. It needs a standard to measure it. At last, we get the proofs from the facts. Many clients give us a very high value and buy China Buses Guide 2008 for many times. This guide forms a stable and sincere clients group.
