A senior official at China's Ministry of Commerce says imported auto vehicles will flood in this year as auto imports quota are eliminated.

Though in the long-term, this year's imports will be more than last year's, auto retailers still need more time to adapt to the new regulations.

Last year, China's car imports reached 16.3 billion US dollars, 10 percent more than the previous year.
