The China-Caribbean
Economic and Trade Co-operation Forum is expected to boost trade
ties between the two countries.
Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong will attend the opening ceremony
today, in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica.
The Ministry of Commerce says a Guiding Framework
for Economic and Trade Co-operation between the two countries
will be signed.
In 2004, the trade volume between China and Caribbean
countries stood at 2 billion US dollars, a 42.5 per cent year-on-year
rise, but only accounted for 4 per cent of total Caribbean regional
trade.
Caribbean nations are abundant in mineral,
fishery and tourism resources, whereas China has comparative advantages
in capital, products and technology.
