Official Chinese statistics say the country's economy maintained swift development last year, with predictions of stable and rapid growth for this year.

Spokesman of the National Statistics Bureau Zheng Jingping says consumption product prices rose slightly, and employment is on the rise.

He says China's economy is still in a rapid growth period and a promising world economy will also support China's economic growth demands in export, consumption and investment.

Zheng Jingping says with effective macro control, problems in the economy will be solved to promote its stable development.
