China's business
confidence index reached 134.7 points in the last quarter of 2004,
same as the third quarter, according to a report released by the
National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Monday.
Confidence index in sectors of mining, information
transmission,computer and software service, manufacturing and
construction are 162.9, 156.5, 134.4 and 131.2 points, up 0.8,
4.7, 1.9 and 1.0 percentage point respectively over the third
quarter,
While confidence index in sectors of production and supply of
power, gas and water; and transport, storage and postal service
are 138.1 and 127.4 points, down 2.5 and 5.3 percentage points
over the third quarter.
Statistics show that confidence index of businesses
no matter state-owned or private, have all increased.
Confidence index of producing and ordering are 122.0
and 123.4 points, down 3.5 and 2.3 percentage points over the
third quater.
Confidence index of investment in fixed assets reached
117.0 points, same as the third quarter. Confidence index of investment
in fixed assets of all sectors, except industry, have decreased
inthe fourth quarter, the report said.
The NBS attributed the increase of confidence index
of investment in industry mainly to confidence index of investment
inmining and production and supply of power, gas and water having
increased by 4.2 and 5.7 percentage points over the previous quarter.
